At launch, circle gum splodges with chalk – it’s a cost-effective, high impact way to dramatise the chewing gum litter problem. You could even cordon off an area as if it's a crime scene and dress in forensic outfits, making for a great photo opportunity.

For an engaging, colourful and inexpensive way to bring attention to the fine for dropping gum, you could put price tags saying “£80” on chewing gum blobs around the town centre.

Why not give out free t-shirts with the campaign artwork printed on? It’s a great way to get the message about the fine seen by more people.

Invite important local figures, like the mayor, councillors or an MP to a press conference. Make sure all the local media are invited, and that your guests are fully briefed and willing to give interviews or have photos taken.

Ask someone who has been fined for an interview. Even if it’s done anonymously, this could bring the reality of the fine to life and let others know how it affected the offender and what they had to miss out on to pay it. Print this in your council magazine, or send it out to the local press.
